About the Center

The University of Illinois and its College of Medicine at Peoria is a multi-disciplinary team of professionals that provide guidance to faculty and trainees in all aspects, including design, methods, and ethical conduct, of clinical, public health, and medical education research. The University encourages and facilitates faculty and trainee pursuit and attainment of excellence in all spheres of scholarship. We train our learners to develop a research attitude, with an evidence-based form of inquiry, in order to become informed practitioners and life-long learners. Faculty members model the requisite attitudes and behaviors to guide and inspire our trainees in all aspects of their training, including their classroom learning, clinical practice, and research-based approach to their practice.

The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology/Hepatology/Nutrition in the Department of Pediatrics has extensive experience in pediatric gastroenterology with an active approach to the development and execution of an active research process that focuses, among other things, on eosinophilic diseases of the gastrointestinal system. Our pediatric gastroenterologists include Dr. Ian Kang (Division Head), Dr. Christopher Mullett, Dr. Mohammad Yaseen, and Dr. Sandeep Gupta. Dr. Gupta has over 20 years of experience in Pediatric Gastroenterology and his clinical research expertise includes eosinophilic diseases of the gastrointestinal system. Our center is part of various national and international consortia and groups on eosinophilic diseases together with a robust research platform.
