How to Become Eligible to Join TAPIR

Patients with granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA, Wegener's) who qualify for the TAPIR trial must meet all criteria found here.

If you meet the criteria but are taking more than 20 mg prednisone per day:

Then you are currently not eligible to join the TAPIR trial. To become eligible for the TAPIR trial, you must already be on a prednisone dose between 5 and 20 mg per day.

I still want to join - what can I do?

Talk to your doctor. Your doctor will determine if it is appropriate for you to taper your prednisone dose into the eligible range (more than 5 mg and less than 20 mg)

What your doctor needs to know:

  • You are interested in participating in the TAPIR trial, but you are not currently eligible yet.

  • When you reach a dose that is between 5 and 20 mg of prednisone, you become eligible for the TAPIR trial

  • Prednisone taper: how, when, and if your prednisone should be tapered is the decision of your doctor*

  • You will continue to be under your doctor's care, and follow your doctor's instructions

*Your doctor may decide that it is not in your best interest to taper your prednisone, or that the TAPIR trial is not appropriate for you
