About Us:

Cedars-Sinai is a full-service, 958-bed acute care hospital located in western Los Angeles on a campus comprising 10 buildings totaling 2.8 million square feet. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center operates one of the largest research programs of any private nonprofit hospital in the country—currently our investigators are engaged in over 270 externally sponsored research projects (fiscal year 2010). The scope of research conducted at Cedars-Sinai encompasses a spectrum of disease-related investigations, ranging from molecular genetics and stem cells to clinical research and therapeutic trials. It is this combination of location, commitment, past performance, current growth, energy, and vision that makes Cedars-Sinai an ideal place to perform this important study.

The Division of Rheumatology is chaired by Dr. Michael H. Weisman. The division’s research program is quite diverse, with grants from the National Institutes of Health and numerous foundation sponsored programs into the causes, cures, and prevention of chronic rheumatic disease. Vasculitis is given a high priority due to its impact on individual and societal needs and costs when a family is affected by one of these disorders. CSMC is uniquely poised to help these patients because of its wide range of skill sets in multi-specialty areas and its strong internal and external health care communication expertise.
