Funding Opportunity

Pilot Grant

The PFN-STRIDE Pilot/Feasibility (P&F) Core aims to increase innovative studies on rare pediatric IFD and facilitate growth of a diverse community of investigators in the field. Through this Request for Applications (RFA), the P&F Core seeks proposals to generate preliminary data to inform future full-scale high-impact clinical or translational studies, studies in implementation science, and health services research. Complementing this effort, the Career Enhancement Core will provide mentorship and professional development support to PFN-STRIDE applicants and awardees, fostering a diverse and sustainable investigator community dedicated to improving outcomes for children with IFDs.

Aligned with PFN-STRIDE’s objectives, this RFA invites applications for one-year pilot projects that establish feasibility, refine the analytic design, or generate preliminary data to support future studies addressing critical knowledge gaps or improving patient-centered outcomes for pediatric IFDs. Proposals may build on, but must remain distinct from, the three central PFN-STRIDE projects (see Appendix 1) or address unique knowledge gaps in pediatric IFDs.

Clinical Research Training in Pediatric Fungal Disease

The purpose of this award is to educate through innovative seminars and research conference presentations and provide a training pathway to support the next generation of clinical research through mentorship and involvement in existing and future studies. Seminars about clinical research topics will be delivered by investigators as part of the rare disease consortium, and then specific pediatric IFD topics delivered by IFD experts to focus on this subfield.
